Several times a year the district hosts LA market weeks, when buyers come to place orders for upcoming seasons. These periods can be a glimpse into what independent and contemporary labels are betting on next, and they sometimes coincide with public sample sales. Dates change year to year, so confirm through the organizers' official channels rather than relying on past schedules.

• Bring cash; smaller vendors may prefer it, though many now accept cards.
• Go early on weekdays if you want calmer streets and more time to talk with fabric sellers.
